On November 5th, Simon Curtis will be joining 5 other acts, including the fabulous Raja from RuPaul’s Drag Race, at the Palm Springs Pride Block Party! The event is happening Saturday, November 5 from 6pm until 11:30pm. You will need a valid State ID or passport to enter the party! The event is free.

BLOCK PARTY ’11 is a 21+ party in the streets celebrating Pride – Palm Springs Style. Bring your friends and enjoy the musical headliners and guest DJs entertaining under the stars on Arenas Road. Street performers along with food and beverage stations will also fill the streets. Thousands of dancing partygoers and a few dishy drag queens are expected.

This street party is a new signature event produced by Palm Springs Pride in conjunction with Business Owners of Arenas Road in Palm Springs. It will bring the Pride celebration to the heart of Downtown … celebrating Pride as well as the symbolic embrace of Arenas Road as favorite gay bars and local businesses will be packed to the rafters and spilling out onto the streets for the biggest free LGBT street party in Palm Springs. Expect the streets to be packed with Pride revelers, dancers and roving performers. Come discover (and re-discover) all that Arenas Road has to offer!

Palm Springs Pride is a nonprofit organization and proceeds from the party are earmarked for charitable organizations. The street party does cost a lot to put on with the entertainer fees, fencing, security, tent rentals, toilets, printing, stage, sound, and lighting, nevertheless, the party is free for all who attend. However, we depend on revelers putting a buck or two in the kitty to help cover the cost of the event.

Simon under new management?

Although I don’t have any specific details, I’d like to congratulate Simon on his new management!

On a side note, RA climbed up to number 84 on the iTunes top album overall. He beat out other well known artists like Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, and even Lady Gaga. Pretty damn good for someone without a record deal, eh? ;)

I’m not too sure if RA was any higher, but please feel free to correct me!

Simon’s sophomore album will be released tomorrow, June 7th! I’m on vacation right now and the internet connection isn’t so great, so I’ll just be copying and pasting what the article says, along with a link back so you can see the artwork! :)

Indie electro-pop artist and Buzzworthy bestie Simon Curtis is pulling back the curtain on his second self-released studio album. It’s called RA, and no, it doesn’t stand for rheumatoid arthritis (which is good news!), nor is it a shout out to college resident advisers all across the land. It stands for Robot Army, so it is indeed a shout out to his loyal online following — part Little Monsters and Britney devotees who immediately adopted him, and part his own vocal militia.

“I am so fortunate to have the most loyal, fiercely dedicated growing fan base an unsigned act could ever hope for,” Simon explained. “After my first album came out last year, they dubbed themselves Robots, and from there, Robot Army. This album is one-hundred percent for them, so it really couldn’t be titled anything else.”

RA — the cover art and promo photos were both shot by L.A. photographer Tyler Shields — features lead singles “Superhero” — a push-yourself-to-the-next-level anthem in the vein of Lady Gaga’s “The Edge Of Glory” — and the punishingly erotic, shamelessly gritty “Flesh,” which fits snugly alongside Britney’s “Inside Out.” (Think Rihanna’s “Skin” with a much sharper bite.) Though it’s a dark digital dance album, there’s an unforgivingly emotional suckerpunch in here too, reminding listeners that robots have feelings too.

RA is out tomorrow, Tuesday 6/7.
